In case you might be asking how to control your emotions, this is what you should bear in mind - struggling to control your emotions is a really hard thing and to a large extent, not required. The key is to allow them to be and preferably pick and choose your reaction to them.

Emotions are definitely not our enemies, they happen to be our great friends, even the negative kinds are here to help us. They work as guideposts to show us the way where we have to go. Feelings make us human and advise us in decision making activity.

If you would need to logically analyze just about every minor decision, it would probably make everyday life way too hard. Furthermore it would be almost impossible. How could anyone logically explain, whether to eat Mars or Snickers after breakfast. Not possible. You just rely on your gut instinct and choose upon your emotions at the moment.

In case you happen to be overwhelmed by them and there are essential judgements at stake, allow them be and put off decision making. Crucial decisions are far better to be made in a relaxing state.

It is essential to remain connected to your emotions at all times. You are always bigger than your emotions, your ideas and emotions can not harm you. They are in you, but definitely not you. You are something bigger, something separate from them.

Thoughts and feelings are not an obligations to act. Right after feeling the emotions, there is actually a gap, this is the spot where you should choose your reaction to them. This gap is the spot where you are able to pinpoint the course of your life.

Think exactly what is the outcome you desire and then react in a way that gives you that outcome. If possible the outcome should be something that reduces the quantity of negative emotions arising.

Don't identify yourself with your sensations, become the Observer of them all. The Observer sees, acknowledges, but will never react. At all times act, but do not ever react. By reacting you are typically replaying the circumstance and reinforcing it. By acting you are in charge of the path of your life.

This is a lot easier said than done. Especially when being overcome by them we ask the question " how to control your emotions ?". This is not the right question to ask. Right question to ask would be " how could I improve the situation ?".

Emotions are here to be observed and felt through. When being overcome, it typically means, that they were repressed and in order for you to pay attention to them, they needed to come up with a tougher statement.

If you permit them be they begin to reduce their strength, like getting sure that they have been heard. After that you can be more calm and get started taking real action to improve the situation. This way of living requires some practice. People are usually reactive, but being reactive can throw us off course.

Through postponing immediate reaction and just practising viewing the gap, you are able to control your life. By stop thinking how to control your emotions, but enabling your emotions be, observing them and not being afraid of them, you are able to gain stability and at the same time feel a lot more alive and be able to feel the emotions freely.

The answer to how to control your emotions by my opinion is: you can't and you shouldn't. You should try to rise above them.
